Hearing the story of Kari and Evan, you can’t help but think it was always meant to be. This white and gold ballroom wedding at the Fairmont Copley Plaza has an air of kismet and sophistication that was absolutely beautiful. From a humble blind date set up between two mutual friends, and some perseverance on Evan’s behalf, this is one tight-knit group (we even shot Kari’s sisters wedding back in 2014).
This September wedding began in the bridal suite where the women were gathered getting ready and sharing stories and bubbly. The bride wore a strapless Isabelle Armstrong gown with a sweetheart neckline. Her bouquet, a white, slightly-asymmetrical bouquet full of textural flowers, completed the look. The men wore Armani Collezioni tuxes with bowties to complement the shimmering floor-length gold dresses the ladies were wearing.
It was important to the couple to be able to spend some dedicated time capturing photos. We carved out a nice block of time in the afternoon prior to the ceremony so that we could accomplish these wonderful shots. The couple opted to have their First Look just out front of the Fairmont Copley. Taking advantage of the historic backdrop Copley Square has to offer, we visited the steps of the Boston Public Library and the Trinity Church taking pictures as we went.
The couple worked with the collaborative team of Carol Silverston – The Original Touch and Jodi Raphael Events. With the bride’s keen eye, she described the wedding as having “a romantic elegance with a slightly modern twist… to incorporate many different textures within the decor and a wide variety of flower types to add dimension, with touches of shine, mirrors, and candles to emulate a clean and sophisticated look”. We love shooting what this masterful team accomplished.
A custom built chuppah anchored the Oval Room where the traditional Jewish ceremony took place. Warm lighting and glowing candles set the romantic tone of the evening ahead. A white runner accented with rose petals lead to the wedding canopy. It was draped in flowing fabric and a dense layer of flowers.
Before the guests entered the reception space, the couple took a moment to peek at Ballroom and squeeze in a quick turn on the dance floor. From the white and gold five-tiered wedding cake to the classic lounge furniture and white monogrammed dance floor, the space was full of romantic elegance.
As the night progressed from dinner and toasts to dancing and dessert, we loved every second of capturing this day!
